Mildred was born August 31, 1931, in Newlin, Texas to Charles Henry and Dora Lee (Lunceford) Booth. Mildred graduated from Lakeview High School then went on to Clarendon Jr. College and West Texas State University to receive a teaching degree. Just short of her degree she met the love of her life, Frank Lewis, a Wichita Falls Midwestern State University senior who took her mind off her studies and onto her dream of marriage and children. Mildred married Frank on June 4, 1953, in Lesley, Texas. Their children Van and Linda Lou were born just previous to their move to Morse Texas, Hansford County in 1962 where she was employed as a substitute teacher, babysat the local children, and sold fireworks. Finally, she landed the job as Postmaster for the Morse Post Office where she retired 20 years later. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Morse. Everyone knew Mildred was on that backrow because she belted those hymns at the top of her lungs with so much passion. She was past president of the PTA and a member of Hansford Honeys Red Hat club along with the local home demonstration club. For years Mildred attended TOPS club in Gruver where she met so many very special and dear friends.
