Leona Chlotee Armstrong, 96, of Perryton

Leona Chlotee Armstrong, 96, of Perryton passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Viewing /visitation will be on Thursday, March 30, 2023(5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.) Friday, March 31, 2023(9:00a.m.-9:00p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman. Graveside and burial will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10:00a.m. at Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton. Memorial services will be at the First Baptist Church in Spearman, on April 1, 2023, at 2:00p.m., with Rev. Byron Potter officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
Leona was born on March 27, 1929, to Oscar Wright Bridges and Eathel Arnold Bridges in Willis, Oklahoma. Frank Armstrong and Leona Bridges were married on Nov. 6, 1949, in Borger, Texas. They moved to Perryton in 1959 where Leona worked at Perryton ISD for 18 years. She was faithful to take her family to church regularly to Peoples Chapel and later was a member of the Southside Baptist in Perryton. After moving to Spearman Hansford Manor, July 1, 2021 she changed membership to First Baptist in Spearman.
After retiring they both loved to volunteer at the Perryton Senior Center for many years. She loved to sew clothes and was an avid quilter. Leona was a wonderful and loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, her daughter, Patricia Ann Smith, brother, Ross Bridges, sisters, Anita Harris,Zelda Hicks, and special cousin, Pearl Perish.
She is survived by her children, son, Frank Hugh Armstrong of Lubbock Texas, daughters, Lisa and husband, Richard Pipkin of Spearman, Teresa and husband Mark Freeman of Salida, Co.; brother, Marvin Bridges of Fairfield CA. and sister, LaWanda Walker of Durant, OK. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Candice Lee and husband Jeremy Sutterfield of College Station, and Kara J. Taylor of Sommerville, TX. ; David R. Pipkin of Amarillo, TX.; and 2 great- grandchildren, Myles W. Taylor and Olivia J Taylor of Sommerville TX.
The family wants to express our deep and sincere gratitude to Dr. Garnett and his staff, at the Hansford County Manor and Hospice for all the love and care for mom in the past year and 8 months. She could not have been in a better place.
The family suggests memorials in memory of Leona be to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland, Spearman, TX 79081, or ones favorite charity.
