Mary Frances Olsen, 89, of the Oslo community in Hansford County

Mary Frances Olsen, 89, of the Oslo community in Hansford County, Texas, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, in Spearman, Texas. Viewing will be Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2023, at Oslo Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2023 following the burial at Oslo Lutheran Church, with Pastor Arlen Lloyd officiating. Burial arrangements will be under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman, Texas.

Mrs. Olsen was born on July 8, 1933 in rural Kerrick, Texas, to Elias Newton Crabtree and Frances Durr Crabtree. She went to Kerrick School, and then graduated from Stratford High School. She attended Oklahoma State University for one year, and then attended West Texas State University for two years. She married her husband, Burton A. Olsen on November 25, 1954 in her parents’ home, and she was a member of Oslo Lutheran Church. She did whatever was necessary to help her husband with the farming and raising her family. She was very active in Women’s ministry with the church. She was a dedicated Sunday school teacher, and she was a dedicated grandmother.

Mrs. Olsen is survived by two sons, Jon Olsen and wife Mary Elizabeth of Gruver, Texas, and Wayne Olsen of Gruver, Texas; one brother, Joe Crabtree of Verona, Missouri; three granddaughters, Faith Olsen, Kristen Olsen, and Hannah Olsen, all of Gruver, Texas; and one grandson, Gustav Olsen also of Gruver, Texas.

Mrs. Olsen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Charlie; two sisters, Martha and Minnie, and one infant daughter.
