Adventures at SHS: Pinata Project
Recently, the students in Mrs. Hernandez's Spanish classes made pinatas in class. Each
group was gifted with creative freedom to create their own personalized pinata. We've
interviewed Emma Parker, whose group is making a llama. When asked what the hardest part of
this project has been, she responded with, "The hardest part is trying to make the shape look the
way you want it to because you get pictures and it just looks strange and building it with
cardboard is hard in itself. There are perks to it though, the best part has been the teamwork that
we've put in. We've each done different parts, cut different parts, brainstormed different parts,
and it's just been a fun project in general, but getting to work with your group is super
enjoyable." So far, Emma's group is happy about theirs even if it's not exactly what they
expected, but with the work they've put in they think it's great! When asked if she would want to
do it again or never look at a pinata in her life again, Emma stated, "I want to do it again, it's just
fun making them and learning how they use it and why they do it in the culture."
